Pay-It-Forward- Academic Conference Presentation Developmental Feedback Opportunity
Are you nervous about presenting your academic paper at a conference? Do you want to receive
developmental feedback on your papers/presentations from DU researchers before submission to
a conference? Sign up for a Pay-It-Forward Academic Conference Presentation Feedback
Opportunity!!
The IRISE Postdoctoral Fellows are excited to offer a safe environment for graduate students to develop
and refine their ideas by an interdisciplinary team of researchers. Students who write in the areas of Diversity,
Inequality, or Interdisciplinarity OR who are students of color are welcome to submit work for developmental
review.
Each month, three research teams will have the opportunity to give a 10 minute paper talk/presentation and receive
developmental feedback on the spot for both their paper and the presentation. Submitted work is
broadly defined (e.g., paper presentation, conference presentation, poster session). Students are required to send in
an solid abstract or draft of their paper a month before the workshop. Dates are as follows:
January 29th, 12-1pm (Abstract/Draft Due Date: December 31st)
February 26th, 12-1pm (Abstract/Draft Due Date: January 31st)
March 25th, 12-1pm (Abstract/Draft Due Date: February 29th)
April 29th, 12-1pm (Abstract/Draft Due Date: March 31st)
May 27th, 12-1pm (Abstract/Draft Due Date: April 30)
Guests are welcome to attend and the event is open to the public to learn about their colleagues.
Guests may ask questions to the presenters in the vein of developmental feedback; however,
draft paper feedback will only be provided by the IRISE Fellows.
This is a brown bag event but light snacks and drinks will be served.
To submit your work, please send the following information to Dian Squire at [email protected]. You
will then be assigned to a month and notified of your date. Once you sign up for a slot, you are required
to attend. Spots are first-come, first-served and depend on the timing of the conference/event you are
presenting at as well as overall availability. Sign up sooner rather than later for maximum options!
