Matti Friedman is an award-winning author and was an Associated Press Jerusalem Bureau correspondent, covering
news from Israel, the Palestinian territories, Lebanon, Morocco, Cairo, Moscow and Washington, D.C. Friedman made aliya
from Canada in his teens and served as an IDF soldier in Lebanon.
He will share with us his fascinating life experiences followed by an on-stage conversation with Dr. Adam Rovner, Professor of English and Jewish Literature at the University of Denver. They will provide insight into the current situation
in Israel and the surrounding region, while exploring the role of the international press.
Friedman, author of The Aleppo Codex will also offer a first glimpse at his forthcoming book, Pumpkinflowers: A Soldier’s
Story (publication date May, 2016). This book has been referred to as “Inspiring, heartbreaking, illuminating…a brilliant
account of a forgotten war seen through the lens of a simple soldier…”
