Student Grant for Summer 2016 Internships
Funded by the Liberal Arts Endowed Fund for Internships & the AHSS Dean’s Fund for Excellence
The Dean for Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences will award three grants for up to $3,000 each to
AHSS students who will enroll in internships in summer 2016.
Criteria
 Merit.
 Students with junior or senior standing (graduating no earlier than August 2016) majoring
and/or minoring in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
 The internship must be for academic credit during summer quarter 2016 at the University of
Denver.
Process
The dean and associate dean of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences will choose recipients based on
the application packet, outlined below.
Electronically submit* the following in a single PDF by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2016,
to [email protected] with AHSS Internship Grant Application in the subject heading:





Name, major, Banner ID number, and year in school (i.e. junior or senior standing)
Write a one page (no more than 500 words) statement that explains the following:
o Where you intend to intern.
o The academic department that will be supervising the internship.
o Why you chose the organization you did.
o How the organization and the experience you will gain fit with your educational goals.
Your current APR, or equivalent documentation of your current GPA.
A brief note from the organization confirming the internship. If you have not yet been hired and
therefore can’t obtain a letter from the organization, submit the posted job description.
A brief letter from the faculty member who will supervise your internship.
* Special note: You will receive an e-mail confirming receipt of your application. If you do not
receive a confirmation e-mail, please contact us to verify that your proposal has been received.
Applicants will be notified no later than Monday, May 9, 2016. Stipends will be dispersed in a timely
fashion thereafter. Selected recipients may be asked to share their experience at AHSS programs,
such as student mentorship events or in our newsletter.
