November Newsletter 2015

November Kindergarten News
Food Plate
This month we will be discussing the Food Plate. The children will learn to
categorize the food on the food plate. They will also learn about staying healthy
with exercise in our daily activities.
Voice Recordings
We would love to add your voice to our listening center! Mrs. Malcom is available
to help with voice recordings. Please email her at
[email protected] to set up a time to record a book. We ask
that you keep your labeled book here at school and we will return
it to you at the end of the school year.
Turkey Feather
In your child’s backpack is a large feather. We are asking that your family make a
feather to add to our “class turkey”. Please CUT the feather out and decorate it.
This is meant to be a fun activity for the whole family. Be creative and have fun!
Please return your family’s feather by Wednesday, November 11th.
BURRR!
Although some of us may not enjoy the colder temps, they are here. PLEASE
dress your child for the weather. Hats, gloves and warm coats are a good idea
as we go outside twice a day for recess. Hopefully we will not need to worry
about that white, cold and fluffy stuff for a while BUT students MUST have
snow pants and boots when there is snow on the ground. If a child does not
have snow pants and boots he/she will not be able to play on the field at recess
time.
Don’t forget to send in your November snack this
month!
Kindergarten Thanksgiving Celebrations
We will be talking lots about Thanksgiving and the Native Americans and
Pilgrims. The kindergarteners will be having a Kindergarten feast on Tuesday
morning, November 24th. The Loras College clinical students will be helping
Kindergarten in the afternoon on Tuesday, November 24th with a “Native American
Day.” We are looking for a two parents per classroom to help us with our feast.
Please let your child’s teacher know if you are available. You will be receiving a
letter soon asking you to bring a specific fruit for this special event. Thank you!
Advent Wreaths
We will be making advent wreaths on Tuesday, December 3rd at 9:30. We will be
sending home a note in the upcoming weeks asking if you would like to make play
dough or help with this fun activity.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
