March Kindergarten Newsletter 2016

March Kindergarten Newsletter
2016
It was great seeing you and sharing your child’s progress at
conferences. Well… March is here! Fingers crossed we receive the nice
temperatures that are in the forecast. Please read the following
carefully for dates and upcoming events and units.
Senses Unit
The students are continuing to work on a unit about their five senses.
We have been experimenting, completing assignments, using our
senses to become detailed writers, playing games and reading
informational texts about our senses.
Tea Party
REMINDER! Wednesday, March 23rd at 10:30(please be prompt) the
kindergarten students will be participating in a Tea Party. Each
child gets to choose ONE special guest to attend the party. The
students will be writing their own parts (with your help), performing
a short play and serving their ONE special guest cookies and juice, all
while showing their manners and leadership skills. YOUR CHILD
MAY DRESS UP ON THIS DAY!
Accelerate Reader Update
Due to a subscription issue, we have to change how Kindergarten
students will take AR quizzes. If you received a Renaissance
Learning letter from us, please just recycle that. Your child will still
be able to take AR quizzes at school, but you will not be able to check
their progress electronically from home. We will send home a paper
report sharing how your child is doing on AR quizzes each month. If
you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Malcom.

Do You Know Someone Who Lives on a Farm?
During the month of May we will be working on a farm unit.
Students will learn about farms, crops, animals, etc… We would like
to take the students to a farm. If you know of someone who has a
farm that the students could receive a hands-on experience please let
Mrs. Murray or Mrs. Johnson know. Thank you for your help with
this!
