"Chemistry, Physics, and Astronomy in the Discoveries of C60"

We are proud to announce
Prof. Donald R. Huffman
University of Arizona
Regents Professor Emeritus
Will give a seminar entitled:
Chemistry, Physics, and Astronomy
in the Discoveries of C60
Thurs., Sept. 24 at 4 pm
Olin 205
Brief reception in Olin rotunda immediately following
All students and community members welcome.
Since the beginning of history, humankind had only ever
held two pure forms of carbon in their hands (graphite
and diamond). Prof. Huffman is jointly responsible for
discovering a method to produce the third: C60 or
buckminsterfullerene. Come hear the historical
perspective of the discoveries motivated by the
intersection of three fields of science! The talk is open
to all and will be given at a general audience level.
Jointly sponsored by:
Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry and
Department of Physics & Astronomy.
