LanguageIns2tutethatcoincideswithLEADU,crea2ngacultureof
languagelearningthatisbrimmingwithexcitementandintercultural
learning.
LEADUstudentswilllearnEnglishinanintensiveformat,usingthe
UniversityandtheDenvercommunityasalaboratorytouseEnglishin
real-lifeseRngs.ThemorningconcentratesonEnglish-languagestudy,
andtheaXernoonsaretopic-based,puRngEnglishintocontext,or
ac2vity-based,puRngEnglishintoprac2ce.Theprogramisdesignedto
beaYrac2vetouniversitystudentsfromaroundtheworldaswellas
execu2vesandbusinesspeople.WhilethestudentswillbeinEnglish
languageclassroomstogetherinthemorning,theywillbreakoutinto
specializedgroupsforaXernoondiscussionsandexcursions.Lunchwill
beoncampusmostdays,andstudentsareencouragedtoliveinthe
UniversityofDenveraccommoda2ons.Somelunchesandsomeop2onal
ac2vi2eswillbewithstudentsfromtheSummerLanguageIns2tute(SLI),
crea2ngavibrantandcollabora2velearningenvironment.
Classeswillbekeptsmalltoallowformaximalstudentpar2cipa2on,withamaximumof15studentsperclass.AXernoonsessionsand
ac2vi2esmaycombinestudentsfromdifferentlanguagesec2onstohelpmaintaingroupcohesionandinterest.Eachweekwill
concentrateonathemeofEnglishlanguagelearning,EnglishinContext,andEnglishinPrac2ce.
Eachweekintheprogramwillbefocusedonadifferenttheme,andstudentscanjointheclassduringanygivenweek.Theweek-long
sessionsaregroupedoverallintoathree-weekcycle.Classcontacthoursare35hoursperweekofinstruc2onwiththeaddi2onal5
