Letter from the Editor

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
Welcome to the seventh edition of the Journal of Student Affairs of New
York University.
Reflecting upon the past year of hard work and passion placed into this
journal, I am proud of the result captured in succeeding pages. The
Executive Editorial Board focused on taking the journal to the next level
of success. I believe we have accomplished our efforts in providing a
thought-provoking journal with substance and currency to the field of
higher education and student affairs.
We marketed our journal to scholars and professionals at other prestigious
institutions and programs in the area to invite their participation. This
initiative solicited an unparalleled number of manuscript submissions.
By recruiting students from the program in Higher Education and Student
Affairs at New York University, we assembled a team of dedicated editors
whose results are indicative of the journal’s academic quality and integrity.
None of the successes of the journal would have been possible without the
tireless dedication of this edition’s Executive Editorial Board. Haley Peele,
our Publicity and Development Manager, was relentless in her efforts to
expand the journal’s audience to reach new, diverse professionals. Chris
Mosier, our talented Production Editor, creatively revamped print and
online capabilities to increase our professional presence. Finally, Daniel
Esquivel and Manaf Mansure, our Copy and Content Editors, used critical
and detail-oriented perspectives to ensure the production of scholarly work
competitive with today’s expectations of the field. I am happy to have had
the opportunity to work with all of you and cannot thank you enough for
this tremendous undertaking.
I am pleased to introduce the 2011 Journal of Students Affairs. The
Executive Editorial Board, editors, and authors are excited to share these
articles that create new knowledge capital for our professional community.
Warmest Regards,
Jennifer L. Venegas
