Conway, S.C. - The HTC Center - 2 p.m.
Today’s Game
Liberty (7-6, 3-1 Big South) will wrap up its three-game Big South road swing on Saturday, when the Lady Flames travel to conference co-leader Coastal Carolina (8-5, 4-0 Big
South). Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m. inside The HTC Center.
The “Starting Five” - Today’s Top Storylines
1) Saturday’s matinee will match up the Big South’s defending champion and preseason
favorite (Liberty) with one of two remaining unbeaten teams in conference play (Coastal
Carolina). The Chanticleers, who are off to a 4-0 start in Big South play for the first time in
program history, share the league lead with Winthrop.
2) Liberty will look to continue its 40-game winning streak against Coastal Carolina, since
the Chanticleers’ most recent victory over the Lady Flames on Feb. 19, 1996. It is the
second-longest active winning streak against a single opponent in all of NCAA Division I
women’s basketball.
3) Liberty will attempt to remain unbeaten inside The HTC Center. The Flames men’s and
women’s basketball teams are a combined 8-0 at the facility and both captured Big South
titles there in March.
4) The Lady Flames’ redshirt sophomore post trio of Katelyn Adams, Catherine Kearney
and Ashley Rininger will look to continue their stellar play. All three notched double-doubles on Thursday at Charleston Southern, and they are averaging a combined 37 points
and 30.8 rebounds in conference play.
5) Liberty will shoot to slow down Coastal Carolina junior guard AJ Jordan, who ranks
second in the Big South in scoring at 18.2 ppg, up from 9.6 ppg last season.

Notes and Anecdotes
• After being picked ninth in the Big South preseason poll, Coastal Carolina has been the
conference’s surprise team so far under first-year head coach Jaida Williams. The Chanticleers are off to a 4-0 start in Big South play for the first time in program history, putting
them in a tie with Winthrop for first place in the conference standings.
• AJ Jordan, a 5-8 junior guard, has been Coastal Carolina’s best player during a breakout
season. She ranks second in the Big South in scoring (18.2 ppg) and tied for 10th in rebounding at 7.1 rpg. Jordan led the Chanticleers in scoring in both matchups with Liberty
in 2012-13, averaging 11.5 ppg in the two games.
• Liberty has won 40 straight games in the head-to-head series against Coastal Carolina,
marking the second-longest active winning streak against a single opponent in NCAA Division I women’s basketball. (See additional details on the next page.)
• The Lady Flames have positive memories of The HTC Center. The last time they visited
the facility, they captured the 2013 Big South Women’s Basketball Championship title. The
conference tournament will return to The HTC Center, March 4-9.
• The Liberty men’s and women’s basketball teams are a combined 8-0 at The HTC Center all-time, as each squad has gone 4-0 at the facility.
• Liberty head coach Carey Green is a 1979 graduate of Coastal Carolina.

Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on Dec. 2 and 23. Meanwhile, Ellis is posting 8.4
