The days-away-from-work rate for all
events in private industry fell by 7.3
percent between 2007 and 2008.
Cases involving repetitive motion fell
by 17.9 percent, while cases involving
exposure to harmful substances fell by
14.3 percent. The 2008 incidence rate of
repetitive motion injuries was 3.2 per
10,000 full-time workers. Exposure to
harmful substances had an incidence
rate of 4.8 per 10,000 full-time workers.
Assaults by animals fell by 25.0 percent
(from 0.8 to 0.6 per 10,000 full-time
workers), while total assaults fell by 7.7
percent.
The rates for “struck by object,”“fall on
same level,” and “total overexertion” fell
by less than the average for all events
and exposures.
