The rate of injuries to the upper
extremities was 141 percent
higher for workers in construction
and extractive occupations than
the rate for workers in all private
industry. The rate for production
workers was 122 percent higher
than the rate for all workers in
private industry.
The rate of back injuries in the
transportation and material
moving occupations was two and
one-half times the rate for workers
in all private industry. The transportation and warehousing
industry had a rate of back
injuries more than twice as high
as the rate for all private industry,
and the health care and social
assistance industry had a rate 63
percent higher than the rate for all
private industry.
