The rate of sprains and strains decreased by 6 percent from 2005 to 2006. The rate for the category of soreness, pain, except back increased by 4 percent. Carpal tunnel syndrome made up 6 percent of all cases in the finance and insurance industry. Sprains and strains made up more than 50 percent of all cases in the health care and social assistance industry, 49 percent in the utilities industry, and 47 percent in the transportation and warehousing industry.
