In cases for which race or ethnicity was reported, Hispanic and Latino workers suffered more than half of the DAFW injuries and illnesses in natural resources and mining and more than onequarter of injuries and illnesses in construction and professional and business services. The number of DAFW injuries and illnesses affecting Hispanic or Latino workers declined by 2.9 percent from 2005 to 2006. Race is not reported in nearly one-third of all DAFW cases. C H A R T 2 5 In 2006, there were 158,760 injuries and illnesses with days away from work (DAFW) among Hispanic or Latino workers. These workers made up nearly 20 percent of cases in which race or ethnicity was reported.
