4 Mining experienced the lowest rate of injuries and illnesses among goods-producing sectors in 2006, with 3.5 cases per 100 full-time employees. Total recordable nonfatal occupational injury and illness incidence rates, by goods-producing private industry sector, 2005 and 2006 Injury and illness rates in agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting (6.0); construction (5.9); and manufacturing (6.0) were not significantly different from one another in 2006. While rates for agriculture, forestry, fishing, and hunting remained relatively unchanged in 2006, they declined for construction (from 6.3 in 2005 to 5.9 in 2006) and for manufacturing (6.3 to 6.0).
