There were slightly more than 164,000 injuries and illnesses with days away from work among Hispanic and Latino workers in 2004, up by 4,000 over 2003. Overall, Hispanic and Latino workers experienced a larger proportion of occupational injuries and illnesses in 2004. Natural resources and mining and leisure and hospitality were the only major industry sectors in which these workers represented a smaller fraction of cases than in the previous year. Employers do not report race and ethnicity data for about 30 percent of cases. 50.0 2003 46.9 47.0 2004 45.0 40.0 37.3 35.0 32.9 30.4 30.0 29.5 25.0 20.0 17.2 15.0 12.2 13.1 8.2 8.2 10.0 18.3 16.5 14.3 14.8 7.2 15.4 8.2 Black only N White only To at ta ur l al r e an s d ou m rc in e in s g C on st ru ct io n M an uf ac tu rin g Ed he u al ca th ti se on rv an ic d es Le ho isu sp r e ita an lit d y 5.0 Hispanic or Latino only Source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, November 2005 Not reported
