Mid-Atlantic: Price Movements of Top Exports and
Other Highlights

The Mid-Atlantic region, composed of Delaware, Maryland,
Pennsylvania, Virginia, and the District of Columbia,
exported goods valued at just under $68.1 billion in 2016, a
drop of 8.1 percent from 2015. The price index for chemical
manufacturing exports fell over the 3 months ended in
March. Export prices also declined for nonelectrical
machinery manufacturing and computer and electronic
product manufacturing.

percent of total export dollars from
the Mid-Atlantic, the largest share of
goods exports from the region.

 The top 6 export industries accounted
for 63.7 percent ($43.4 billion) of the
region’s total export dollars in 2016.
U.S. Export Price Indexes: Chemical Manufacturing
 The price index for export chemical
manufacturing fell 0.4 percent from
December to March. During the same
period, overall export manufacturing
prices rose 0.5 percent.
 During the 12 months ended in
March,
chemical
manufacturing
export prices increased 1.4 percent.
 Chemical manufacturing export prices
rose over the 12 months ended in
March amid increasing petroleum
prices. Export prices for fertilizer
manufacturing fell.

 During the 3 month period ended in
March 2017, prices for transportation
equipment manufacturing exports
increased 1.1 percent.
 Export
prices for transportation
equipment manufacturing rose 1.9
percent over the past 12 months.
 Heavy
duty truck manufacturing
prices, a component of transportation
equipment manufacturing, rose 5.6
percent over the 12-month period
ended in March.
