Guidelines on Proposal Review for Internship Project of Department of Public Policy and Management at I-Shou University Adopted on September 5, 2005 in the first meeting of the Departmental Affairs Council in the first semester of the academic year 2005 Amendments adopted on December 13, 2007 at the fifth meeting of the Departmental Affairs Council in the first semester of the academic year 2007 I. The Guidelines on Proposal Review for Internship Project of Department of Public and Policy and Management at I-Shou University (hereinafter referred to as the “Guidelines”) are stipulated by the Department of Public Policy and Management (hereinafter referred to as the “Department”) pursuant to Subparagraph 3 of Article 6 in the Regulations for Student Internships of Department of Public Policy and Management at I-Shou University to provide guidance and criteria for reviewing proposal for internship project. II. The proposal review shall be in charge by the Internship Affairs Panel, and shall be scheduled and announced during the course Public Management Internship I. III. Each student is allowed to submit two proposals at most. A proposal review consists of an oral presentation and a written report. A student shall submit an initial draft of the written report to the Internship Affairs Panel one week prior to the oral presentation; the mentioned draft shall be revised as a final report based on the review results within four weeks after the oral presentation completed. In case of failure to meet the aforesaid requirements, the Internship Affairs Panel shall further arrange such a proposal review. IV. A proposal shall be reviewed by two full-time faculty members of the Department. Such a proposal shall be considered passed only when both reviewers approve it. A student shall submit either a new proposal or a written revision based on the review results if his or her oral presentation is not approved; the submission shall be completed within four weeks after the oral presentation ends for the second review. The second review shall be completed within one week. A student who submits two proposals may revoke the one which is not approved. V. A student who fails the second review shall complete proposal submission and the review procedure before the end of the final exam. VI. The proposal review accounts for 50% of the grade of the course Public Management Internship I; the oral presentation accounts for 15% based on students’ performance on the day 1 of presentation while the written report for 35% based on the final written report. The average of scores given by two reviewers shall be the final score of a proposal. Students who submit two proposals may select the one with higher score for registration. VII. The Guidelines become effective after being adopted by the Departmental Affairs Council. The same procedure applies to any amendment to the Guidelines. Note:In the event of any disputes or misunderstanding as to the interpretation of the language or terms of these Guidelines, the Chinese language version shall prevail. 2
