Regulations for Rewarding Undergraduates for Learning in
Department of Public Policy and Management at I-Shou University
Adopted on November 12, 2009 at the sixth meeting of the
Departmental Affairs Council in the first semester of the
academic year 2009
I.
The Regulations for Rewarding Undergraduates for Learning in Department of Public Policy
and Management at I-Shou University (hereinafter referred to as the “Regulations”) are
established by the Department of Public Policy and Management (hereinafter referred to as
the “Department”) to encourage undergraduates of the Department to participate in
academic and cultural activities proactively, and enhance the efficacy of studying and
learning by conferring a certificate of award to an award recipient.
1.
Shu-Jyuan Awards
Undergraduates who have collected 24 academic points or more before graduation shall
be awarded with a certificate of Shu-Juyan Award by the Department.
Items to collect academic points:
a.
Having published a journal paper in domestic/international journals: 30 points;
b.
Having presented a paper at domestic/international conferences: 15 points;
c.
Having published a comment about public issues in public media: 10 points;
d.
Having proactively participated in academic activities other than scheduled
courses, such as speeches held or co-organized by the Department, brown bag
seminars or other seminars: 2 points per event;
e.
Having assisted in departmental affairs and academic activities organized by the
Department: 2 points per event after approved by the Chair of the Department.
2.
Academic Improvement Awards
An undergraduate shall be conferred with a certificate of Academic Improvement
Award when his or her average semester grade of this semester is at least 5 points
higher compared with that of the previous semester. Only five students within a class
will receive the Academic Improvement Awards. If there are more than five students
meeting the criteria, their level of improvement shall be ranked and the top 5 students
shall be awarded.

Full Attendance Awards
An undergraduate shall be conferred a certificate of Full Attendance Award when he or
she has no record of absenteeism, which excludes official leaves and absenteeism due
to assistance in departmental or class affairs.

II.
The Regulations become effective after being adopted by the Departmental Affairs Council.
The same procedure applies to any amendment to the Regulations.
Note: In the event of any dispute or misunderstanding as to the interpretation of the language or
terms of the Regulations, the Chinese language version shall prevail.
