Rules of Management of Graduate Student Study Rooms for
Department of Public Policy and Management at I-Shou University
Adopted on December 11, 2008 on the sixth meeting of the
Departmental Affairs Council in the first semester of the
academic year 2008
I.
The Department of Public Policy and Management (hereinafter referred to as the
“Department”) stipulates the Rules of Management of Graduate Study Rooms for
Department of Public Policy and Management at I-Shou University (hereinafter referred to
as the Rules) to maximize the availability through enhanced management and boost
researching and academic atmosphere.
II.
Every current postgraduate may apply for using a graduate study room. A graduate study
room is available only when a total of 5 applicants or more have submitted applications.
III.
A faculty member shall be assigned by the Chair of the Department to be the supervisor for
graduate study rooms of the Department shall be in charge of the management and relevant
affairs concerning graduate study rooms. In addition, a postgraduate of the Department shall
be assigned to be an administrator for graduate study rooms of the Department to be
responsible for the computers and relevant facilities/equipment in graduate study rooms as
well as the weekly designation of duty students. The administrator shall be elected by all of
the postgraduates of the Department within two weeks after a semester begins. The graduate
study rooms shall not be available for use unless an administrator is elected.
Duty students of graduate study rooms shall be in charge of maintenance and hygiene
concerning graduate study rooms. The administrator shall announce the timetable for duty
students within two weeks after a semester begins.
IV.
Rules for the Use of Graduate Study Rooms:
1. Please be quite when using a graduate study room.
2. Making noises and smoking in the graduate study rooms are both forbidden.
3. Please keep the graduate study rooms clean and tidy for public hygiene.
4. No drinking, gambling and other misbehaviors in the graduate study rooms.
5. Users are forbidden to a) extend any electricity cable installed in the graduate study
rooms, b) use an alcohol stove or c) leave or store hazardous items in the graduate study
rooms for public safety.
V.
All the computers in the graduate study rooms are for academic use only. It is prohibited to
download or log in game software or to use computers improperly.
VI.
It is prohibited to use illegal computer software in graduate study rooms; any violator shall

be punished pursuant to the University regulations, and be liable for any legal consequences.
VII.
Users shall not leave any personal valuables in graduate study rooms or the lockers, and
shall be liable in any circumstance for any loss of their property stored in any graduate study
room or locker.
VII. Users shall follow the Rules; any user who has violated the Rules and is considered a serious
violation shall be forbidden to use graduate study rooms of the Department.
IX.
Users shall turn off the lights and air-conditioning, close and lock up all doors and windows
after using the graduate study rooms.
X.
The Rules become effective after being adopted by the Departmental Affairs Council. The
same procedure applies to any amendment to the Rules.
Note:In the event of any disputes or misunderstanding as to the interpretation of the language or
terms of these Rules, the Chinese language version shall prevail.
