Regulations for Selection of Outstanding Advisors of Department of Public Policy
and Management at I-Shou University

Article 1
The Regulations for Selection of Outstanding Advisors of Department of Public
Policy and Management at I-Shou University (hereinafter referred to as the
“Regulations”) are hereby established by the Department of Public Policy and
Management (hereinafter referred to as the “Department”) to fulfill students
counseling and guidance, enhance advisors’ capabilities of student counseling, as
well as reward faculty members engaging in student counseling.
Article 2
Qualification: full-time faculty members having been advisors for one year or more
care about students with great enthusiasm, help students actively and whose
outstanding behaviors may serve as the exemplary models are qualified to be chosen
as the candidates. Candidates are categorized into the Senior Group (advisors who
have taught at the Department for three years or more) and the Junior Group
(advisors who have taught at the Department for less than three years).
Quota of winners: only two faculty members shall be awarded in principle. One
faculty member each for the Senior Group and the Junior Group shall be awarded. If
there is only one candidate for the award, it is possible not to select a winner, or the
vacancy may be moved from one group to the other.
Awarding: the winner shall be awarded with a certificate of Distinguished Teaching
Award at important meetings of the Department or other important ceremony by
the Chair of the Department.
Selection procedures and standards:
1. The selection of outstanding advisors of the Department shall be organized once
per academic year by the Departmental Affairs Council, and the election
schedule shall be announced in every March. Any full-time faculty members are
allowed to apply for being a candidate of the election; no limitation on the
number of candidates for both the Senior Group and Junior Group. The

Departmental Affairs Council shall announce the list of candidates for students
to vote.
2. Candidates shall complete the recommendation from and list out the counseling
record and other outstanding performance. The Outstanding Advisors who have
been recommended by the Department in the preceding year shall not be able to
be recommended again.
3. The selection shall be completed by the Departmental Affairs Council by April,
and the scoring items and the percentage for each item are shown as below:
a. Documentations: 50%. A candidate shall receive 60 points or more for this
item.
b. Votes from students: 50%
Any dispute arisen from the final result shall be arbitrated by the Chair of the
Department and ratified by the Departmental Affairs Council.
Winners of Outstanding Advisors from the Senior Group shall update their data for being
recommended by the Department to the College of Management and the University as
the nominee for the award of Outstanding Advisor in every May.
Article 7
The Regulations become effective after being adopted by the Departmental Affairs
Council. The same procedure applies to any amendment to the Regulations.
Note:In the event of any disputes or misunderstanding as to the interpretation of the language or
terms of these Regulations, the Chinese language version shall prevail.
