Guidelines on Rewards and Encouragement for Undergraduate
Students of the Department of Public Policy and Management of
I-Shou University
Approved by the Department Affairs Council meeting on October 16, 2008
Article 1 The Guidelines are hereby regulated in order to encourage students of the Department to
join the English Proficiency Test outside the Campus to enhance English Proficiency.
Article 2 Those who attend English Proficiency Test listed under Article 3 and meet the required
standard of qualification shall apply for subsidies for test fee during the whole period
of study. The scholarship should be applied for no more than once by each student per
semester. The abovementioned period of study is subject to the date of attending test
and day of applying for subsidy. The student's status used must be identical to that
shown in your status at the test.
Article 3 Incentive Standard:
1. Students who satisfy any one of the following standards may receive as much as
five hundred New Taiwan Dollars:
(1) Passed the first and second phase of the Intermediate level of the General
English Proficiency Test.
(2) TOEIC 500 and above.
(3) IELTS 5.5 and above.
(4) CBT TOEFL 193 and above; IBT TOEFL 70 and above (equivalent level to
TOEFL – ITP 525).
2. Students who satisfy any one of the following standards may receive as much as
one thousand New Taiwan Dollars:
(1) Passed the first and second phase of the Intermediate level of the General
English Proficiency Test.
(2) Passed the first phase of the High-intermediate level of the General English
Proficiency Test.
(3) Passed the first phase of the High level of the General English Proficiency
Test.
(4) TOEIC 600 and above.
(5) IELTS 6.0 and above.
(6) CBT TOEFL 213 and above; IBT TOEFL 80 and above (equivalent level to
TOEFL – ITP 550).
3. Students who satisfy any one of the following standards may receive as much as
one thousand and five hundred New Taiwan Dollars:
(1) Passed the second phase of the High-intermediate level of the General
English Proficiency Test.
(2) TOEIC 730 and above.
(3) IELTS 6.5 and above.
(4) CBT TOEFL 233 and above; IBT TOEFL 90 and above (equivalent level to
TOEFL – ITP 570).
4. Students who satisfy any one of the following standards may receive as much as
two thousand and five hundred New Taiwan Dollars:
(1) Passed the second phase of the High level of the General English Proficiency
Test.
(2) TOEIC 860 and above.
(3) IELTS 7.0 and above.
(4) CBT TOEFL 250 and above; IBT TOEFL 100 and above (equivalent level to
TOEFL – ITP 600).
Article 4 Students who apply for rewards and encouragement shall submit student identification
card and proof of transcript of test (The original and one photocopy for each are
required. The original will be returned after verification while the photocopy shall be
kept) to the office of the Department of of Public Policy and Management. If the name
shown on the proof of transcript of test is in English, other certifications proving
English name (for instance, passport) shall be enclosed for verification.
Article 5 Our students may apply for the scholarship of both school and our department. The
scholarship of the department shall be contributed by the budget of the department.
Remarks: Frequency and Exam Fee of Various Test（Test Fee）
1. IBT TOEFL is not confined by the restriction of times of test attending every month for
US$150.00.
2. TOEIC is once every month for NT$1400 (Taipei Testing Center) and online
registration NT$1430.
3. IELTS will be held every month but can be attended once every 3 months for
NT$4700.
4. NT$580 for the first phase and NT$500 for the second phase of the Elementary level;
NT$650 for the first phase and NT$1100 for the second phase of the Intermediate
Level; NT$800 for the first phase and NT$1200 for the second phase of the
High-intermediate Level; NT$1650 for the first phase and NT$2300 for the second
phase of the High Level of General English Proficiency Test.
