Regulations for Selection of Outstanding Teachers by Department of
Public Policy & Management of I-Shou University

The Regulations are enacted in accordance with “Regulations for Encouragement to
Outstanding Teachers of I-Shou University” and “Guidelines on Evaluation of
Qualifications for Outstanding Teachers by College of Management of I-Shou
University” not only to enhance teaching quality and teaching results but to
encourage the outstanding teachers.
Two “Outstanding Teachers Award” are given out once a year, including one teacher
with teaching experiences more than 3 years (hereinafter referred to as the “Senior
Group”) and those less than 3 years (hereinafter referred to as the “Beginner Group”).
Those who are awarded the “Outstanding Teachers Award” are not allowed to
accept the recommendation of the candidates the next year. The award shall be left
vacant in case of the same person, or the award shall be added to another group.
Teachers of senior group may be recommended and judged for encouragement if
superior in behavior, obeying the schooling regulations, and meeting the following
requirements:
(1)
The conditions for outstanding teachers are more than 3 years service.
(2)
The conditions for outstanding teachers have never won any outstanding
teaching awards during the past 3 academic years.
(3)
Teachers seek for advanced teaching materials and teaching methods with
the outstanding teaching results.
(4)
Teachers are serious about teaching and warm-hearted in consulting the
schooling and daily life of students.

Teachers have totally agreed the rules of teaching and will obey them.
Teachers who passed teaching performance evaluation during the 3
academic years and the basic and advanced teaching performance for first
50% of College of Management of the previous academic year.
Teachers who win the “Outstanding Teaching Awards” will gain a merit certificate
and be praised in public by the Department Chair at the important occasions such as
the Department Affairs Council.
The following is Application and Selection Process for the Outstanding Teaching
Award:

The process has been held by the Department Affairs Council once an
academic year and announced in November every year. Our full-time
faculty members may apply for the candidates of the Outstanding

Teaching Award. The number of the candidates for the Senior and
Beginners Groups is not limited, and vote by students of the Department
after announced by the Department Affairs Council.
The candidates for the Outstanding Teachers shall submit the following
document to the Department Affairs Council for the reviews:
a.
An Autobiography.
b.
Teaching Assessment Report.
c.
Course Taught and Syllabus.
d.
Evidence of any outstanding achievements of various results and
actual results of teaching resources.
The review shall be conducted by the Department Affairs Council in
January every year with the following proportions:
a.
50% for the written documents.
b.
50% for votes by students.
The votes by students of item 2 of the preceding Subsection should be
vote by all the students of the Department with a secret voting. Vote by
students may vote for one teacher only. Spoiled ballot shall be regarded
when there is more than 1 teacher.
In the event of any dispute as to the results of total scoring according to the
provisions specified in Subsection (3) of the preceding Paragraph, the
arbitration proceedings shall be conducted by the Department Chair and
approved by the Department Affairs Council.
Winners of the Outstanding Teaching Award of the Senior Group of the Department
shall update their data to apply for the selection of the Outstanding Teaching Award
by College in March every year. We shall work to assist the candidates to win the
awards.
Any conditions not mentioned here shall be subject to the “Regulations for
Encouragement to Outstanding Teachers of I-Shou University” and “Guidelines on
Evaluation of Qualifications for Outstanding Teachers by College of Management of
I-Shou University”.
The Regulations reviewed and approved by the Department Affairs Council and
College Affairs Council shall be promulgated after they are submitted to the
President for reference.
