Governor Perdue Reappoints Athens Lawyer Michael C. Daniel to
the Board of the Technical College System of Georgia
Atlanta - Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue has announced the reappointment of Athens lawyer
Michael C. Daniel as an at-large member on the state board that oversees the Technical College
System of Georgia (TCSG).
Daniel is a partner with the Athens law firm of Prior, Daniel & Wiltshire, where he specializes in
business and estate litigation.
The reappointment means that Daniel will serve an additional five years on the board that
oversees the state’s 33 technical colleges, which last year enrolled more than 148,000 students
in technical education programs. The TCSG is also responsible for the 84,000 adult learners in
the state’s adult literacy programs as well as the management of Quick Start, an internationallyknown incentive to attract and retain business and industry in Georgia.
Daniel has served on several committees for the TCSG board, including the Real Estate and
Facilities Committee that prioritizes requests from the technical colleges for capital construction
projects. During his tenure Athens Technical College received approval for construction of a
new, $20 million allied health building that will help to produce more healthcare workers for the
local area. Daniel was also a member of the committee when Athens Tech got $6 million for the
expansion of its campus in Elbert County.
In 2005 his fellow members elected him to a two-year term as vice chairman of the TCSG board,
a position he served in until this past summer.
Media desiring a quote or further comment from Mr. Daniel may reach him at (706) 543-0002.
