Glenn Henry addresses EMS conference; elected to state EMS board
Glenn Henry, interim dean of Athens Technical College’s Life Sciences division and chair for the college’s Emergency Medical Technician and
Paramedic programs, recently shared his emergency medical service expertise with other EMS professionals at a state conference in Savannah.
In late September, Mr. Henry attended the annual Georgia EMS Symposium and EMS Instructors Conference in Savannah, where he
delivered a presentation entitled “Integrating Simulation into EMS Education.” Mr. Henry’s talk covered the use of human simulators used in EMS
instruction and highlighted the simulation facilities at Athens Technical College. He discussed ideas on how to use simulation equipment and how to
raise funding to purchase simulation resources.
Also during the conference, officials with the Georgia Association of Emergency Medical Services announced that Mr. Henry was elected to
serve on the board of directors for the association. The GAEMS is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping EMTs and paramedics who work
in the state of Georgia.
GAEMS members are represented on a number of organizations important to EMS in Georgia, including the EMS Advisory Council, the
National Association of EMT's, the Georgia Trauma Advisory Council, the Georgia Infection Control Network, and the Association for Professionals
in Infection Control and Epidemiology.
The GAEMS legislative committee tracks issues important to EMS in Georgia and keeps state legislators abreast of those issues.
GAEMS was recently approved to start a nonprofit educational foundation to provide enhanced training and education to EMS professionals
in Georgia. The association also is very actively involved with the Georgia Trauma Care Network Commission.
