Bank of America donates to college program
Bank of America’s philanthropic division recently contributed to the Athens Tech Foundation to support one of Athens Technical College’s new
educational programs.
Harvey Faust, a Bank of America vice president for small business banking, and Chris Broome, vice president and banking center manager III
at the bank’s Epps Bridge Parkway branch, represented the Bank of America Foundation in presenting the college’s foundation with a check for
$3,750.
Mr. Faust and Mr. Broome met with Athens Technical College President Flora W. Tydings and Athens Tech Foundation Director Liz Dalton
on Friday, October 5, to present the donation.
The college will use the money to purchase one of six welding stations for use in worker training in the welding program planned for the
college. The Power Wave C300® Advanced Process Welder can be used on a variety of metals and offers production monitoring capabilities to view
and analyze welding data, track equipment usage, store welding data, and configure fault limits that can be tracked and viewed on almost any digital
device such a computer or mobile phone. The welding stations will provide students the opportunity to develop and practice the skills necessary for
the types of jobs created by the new plant that construction equipment manufacturer Caterpillar plans to open in Athens next year.
