Business honor society busy with volunteer projects
Members of the Alpha Beta Gamma Business Honor society at Athens Technical College recently participated in two altruistic activities — one
involving campus improvement and the other helping Books for Keeps.
ABG members spent a day buying and planting flowers and greenery as part of their Campus Beautification project. Alpha Beta Gamma has
adopted the B-building to help make the campus more enjoyable. For the first of many projects, ABG members worked on the ground floor patio,
next to the instructors’ office suite. The patio was first pressure washed to remove dirt and debris (thanks to Jim Walter and the facilities personnel).
Then during the recent workday the members planted the flowers to brighten up the area.
For the other project, ABG members assisted Books for Keeps in processing over 2200 donated books. Books for Keeps is a non-profit
organization that provides books to low-income elementary students to read over the summer months, to help prevent summer slide.
ABG
members are currently conducting a book drive on the Athens Campus. Donation boxes are located in the lobby of Buildings A and B, in the library,
and in the student center. New and gently used books of all kinds will be accepted. For more information on Books for Keeps,go to their web site at:
