Glenn Henry to serve as Athens Technical College’s Life Sciences dean
Athens Technical College named Mr. Glenn Henry as the new dean of Life Sciences for the community college, according to a Jan. 31
announcement from college President Flora Tydings.
Mr. Henry has served as interim dean for the Life Sciences division since September 1 after the former dean, Dr. Scott Martin, left to pursue
private practice. Prior to that, Mr. Henry oversaw the college’s Emergency Medical Services studies as program chair. Mr. Henry recently established
the college’s new Fire Science Technology program that will launch fall semester 2013.
He also represented the college in 2011 as its nominee for the Technical College System of Georgia’s Rick Perkins Award that recognizes the
state’s most outstanding technical education instructors.
Mr. Henry’s professional connections both in and outside the college as well as his experience and work ethic made him an easy decision for
the deanship, according to Dr. Tydings.
“Mr. Henry was an excellent choice for this position,” Dr. Tydings said. “He continues to build upon his professional connections to establish
internal and external partnerships for the college. His knowledge, experience and work ethic are superb, and we are very fortunate to have him on
our team.”
Before Mr. Henry joined Athens Technical College as the full-time chair of EMS programs, he was manager of the neonatal and pediatric
transport program for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, managing more than 100 employees and a $7 million budget. He also served as an adjunct
instructor at the college.
