Emergency alert system conducts tornado warning test
Athens Technical College’s emergency alert system and the National Weather Service in Peachtree City conducted a tornado warning TEST
Wednesday morning (February 6) to make sure the warning system works properly. Another is scheduled to be conducted at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Athens Technical College uses the Rave Alert System to notify students, faculty, and staff of weather-related and other types of emergencies
on campus. The Rave Alert System sends voice messages to registered office and cell phones; text messages to registered cell phones; and e-mails to
registered email addresses.
If you are a student, faculty member, or staff member at Athens Technical College and did not receive any form of notification Wednesday,
Feb. 6, regarding the tornado warning TEST, it is important that you enroll in the Rave Alert System in order to receive notifications of any future
emergency situations.
To register, visit the following website: https://www.getrave.com/login/athenstech, log in with your Athens Technical College account, and
register.
In order to maximize the efficiency of the emergency notification system, your information must be updated at the beginning of every
semester to ensure that the college’s emergency alert system has the most accurate contact information available. The security staff already has
updated the system list with email addresses for new and returning students, faculty, and staff. But everyone must review their information in the
system and designated their primary means of notification: text, e-mail, or voice message. Once complete, the system will verify the internal data by
sending an e-mail to the person’s primary e-mail address.
For more information, contact Director of Security/Emergency Preparedness Lawanica Lamb at her office (706) 355-5039, or her cell phone
(706) 612-4012.
