Dates set for students to collect Pell checks this fall
Athens Technical College students who are expecting Pell grant checks have several opportunities this fall semester when they can collect
their checks at the college, according to officials with the Finance and Administration division of the college.
First-round Pell grant checks can be picked up September 20; second-round Pell grant checks will be available October 18; third-round Pell
grant checks can be collected November 15; and fourth-round Pell grant checks can be obtained December 10.
Students receiving the Pell grant checks can pick them up on or after the available date at the cashier’s window in H Building of the Athens
Campus during regular business hours: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday; and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday.
Students may charge against their Pell account to purchase books in the campus bookstore from August 21 through September 4.
Pell grants are needs-based awards administered by the federal government for low-income undergraduate students. The Pell grants are
awarded depending on financial need, costs to attend school, status as a full-time or part-time student, and plans to attend school for a full academic
year or less, according to the DOE website.
