Online refrigeration journal provides Stanfield platform to air expertise
Carter Stanfield, program chair and instructor for the Athens Technical College Air Conditioning Technology program, recently published an
article in the Refrigeration Service Engineer’s Society (RSES) Journal, a professional print and web-based publication serving the heating,
ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration industry.
The RSES Journal picked up Mr. Stanfield’s piece ”Blower External Static vs. CFM” from his regular blog site Fundamentals of HVACR at
www.hvacrfundamentals.blogspot.com and published it in the journal’s November 2013 edition. Mr. Stanfield wrote about using a magnehelic gauge
or digital manometer and two static pressure probes to read the static air pressure difference across the blower and compare it to the manufacturer’s
data to determine the blower’s air flow or CFM (cubic feet/minute). This is the second time the RSES Journal has used one of Mr. Stanfield’s blogs.
“I don’t get paid, but it is pretty good public relations, and I must admit, I get a kick out of seeing my articles in a professional journal,” Mr.
Stanfield said.
Mr. Stanfield also is the co-author of “Fundamentals of HVACR,” published by Pearson for the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration
Institute as a textbook used in about 120 schools around the country, including at Athens Tech.
The book provides comprehensive coverage of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) topics. It is a reader-friendly
book which offers fundamental concepts, the most current trends, and practical applications in the field of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and
refrigeration.
