Radiography student picked for leadership program
Lacey Kelly, Radiography program student at Athens Technical College has earned a spot in the American
Society of Radiologic Technologists education conference this summer as part of a student leadership program.
The ASRT selected Ms. Kelly to participate in the 2014 ASRT Educational Symposium and Annual Governance
and House of Delegates meeting being held June 26-29, at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando, Florida.
“This is very exciting for me and for the Athens Technical College Radiography Program,” says Ms. Kelly.
The ASRT Student Leadership Development Program offers students a chance to get to know the ASRT, attend
educational sessions and network with medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals.
Ms. Kelly, a senior student in the Radiography program, Life Sciences Division, at Athens Technical College,
won the invitation to attend the conference through an essay she wrote that detailed her academics and leadership
at Athens Technical Collage. The ASRT awarded Ms. Kelly payment of airfare, housing and a meal stipend in order
to attend the conference.
She currently serves as the vice president of the Radiologic Student Association at Athens Technical College.
She also serves as treasurer of the Georgia Omega chapter of Lambda Nu, the national honor society for the
radiologic and imaging sciences. Ms. Kelly also maintains membership in the Athens Technical College chapter of
Phi Theta Kappa, the honor society that recognizes and encourages the academic achievement of two-year college
students.
“We are very proud of Lacey for all her endeavors and in her selection to attend this leadership conference,” said
Doug Baker, program chair for the Radiography program.
