Connecting the Rapid with
Outdoor Activity Hot Spots
Kent County, MI
This map highlights many outdoor activity hot spots
(OAHS) found within the Grand Rapids area. Some of
the OAHS are already accessible by public
transportation via The Rapid. Examples include Reeds
Lake where there is amble fishing opportunities, and
Lamberton Lake Fen where there is a beautiful nature
trail around the lake. However, there are many of these
great OAHS that are outside current Rapid routes. This
map proposes six extensions for current rapid routes.
These six extensions would give Rapid riders access to
four great city parks, three great nature trails, and one
great fishing spot. Inset 1 and Inset 2 highlight two key
proposed extensions. Each of these extensions would
give access to two great city parks where the outdoor
activities range from hiking to disc golf.
