Meeting was called to order at 3:33pm by Rebecca White.
Committee Member and P&T Staff Introductions
UBike
 Grant will last approximately 3 years
 Sponsorship has not been rolled out as of yet
 P&T provides operational management. Blue Ridge Cyclery has been retained by P&T for
maintenance and redistribution.
 A30 bikes are out of commission right now due to heavy rain impact on sealed controller.
 The most popular stations are located at: O’Hill, Clark, Thornton, and Newcomb Hall
After-Hours Transportation
 Benchmarked with seven schools
 Will increase student engagement to set priorities, service levels, and funding
 In discussion to shift a re-branded SafeRide operation to P&T, enhance technology supporting
SafeRide, and possibly extend extended late night from 2:30AM-3AM.
Sustainability
 P&T’s TDM Professional, Nneka Sobers, is developing a Commuter Concierge service.
P&T Updates-Miscellaneous
 Pay by Cell:
o Eliminate coins
o Roll out expected late November
 CAT Scanning IDs in lieu of fare:
o CAT has transitioned to an electronic fare box and is now scanning the bar code on the
back of UVA and Health System IDs in lieu of fare.
o The scan does not capture personal information
 Electric Charging Stations:
o The first set of electric charging stations in an employee lot has been installed at the
Darden Garage.
o The approach is for the employee to purchase a permit with an EV endorsement.
o E1 will be evaluated for a possible installation.
Future Meeting Dates/Agenda Items
The committee decided to use ad hoc subcommittees or liaisons to tackle issues as follows:
 Continuing Issues-Parking for Affiliates with Disabilities, Service Parking
o Mark Stanis and Jess Wenger are interested in working on service issues
o Trish Romer is interested in working on moped issues
 Student Issues – Julia Monteith interested in working on these issues
 Staff and Faculty Senate Issues – Becca White will follow up on these issues
 Joint meeting with Safety and Security – Becca White will follow up on these issues.
Future meetings – The proposed meeting schedule ends up not working so committee members will be
contacted with the schedule.
