graduate students of the School of Education, Makerere University in August 2008.

Education: Globalisation and Local Empowerment that was held at Makerere University
Campus (16-17 September 2002), funded by the Inter-University Council for East
Africa.
I was Head of the Department of Geography at Makerere College School from 1990 to

VII. CONSULTANCY WORK
Jan-April 2013: Contracted by the Regional Aids Training Network (RATN) Kenya to
conduct a market analysis of the training programmes its member institutions in
Eastern and southern Africa.
LEAH NAMAROME SIKOYO-­‐ CV 4 2012(Oct- Dec): Contracted by the Belgian Development Agency (BTC) to coordinate
a Baseline study into the management and teaching and learning context for two
National Teachers’ Colleges and two Technical and Vocational Instructor Training
Colleges in Uganda. The four colleges are earmarked for support under a bilateral
Belgium-Uganda project on Teacher Training. Task includes coordinating the field
research and progress reporting of a team of ten consultants (four international and six
national consultants).
2012 (May): Lead Consultant for a capacity building workshop in pedagogy (Part 2) for
LDC academic staff, Kampala, Uganda. Worked with a team of four consultants to
conduct a training needs assessment, design a training programme and facilitate a 5-day
workshop for 30 participants.
2011(September) - 2012(August): One of four Consultants contracted by Baylor College
of Medicine Children’s Foundation, Uganda to develop a Postgraduate Diploma in
Medical Education for the Health Tutors’ College, Mulago, Uganda.
2011(July-September): One of four consultants contracted to review the Bachelor of
Science in Pharmacy Curriculum for Mbarara University of Science and Technology
(MUST), Uganda.
2011 (Jan-May) Part of the team contracted to design management guides for
Infrastructure under the Community Agricultural Infrastructure Improvement
Programme (CAIIP-1) of Ministry of Local Government, Uganda.
2010 (Aug-October): Lead consultant for language editing and contextualizing the
Adolescent and Child Survival Curricula for Compassion International (Uganda Office).
2010 (July): Lead Facilitator for a workshop on pedagogical skills for academic staff of
the Department of Women and Gender Studies, Makerere University. I coordinated a
team of three with whom we designed and facilitated a 3-day workshop for 25
participants.
2010 (January-February): Lead consultant for organizing Curriculum development
workshops for the Regional Aids Training Network (RATN) member institutions in
Eastern and Southern Africa. Worked with three colleagues to design a training
program, participants’ and facilitator’s manuals and teaching materials and conducted
two 5-day workshops in curriculum design and development, one in Nairobi, Kenya and
another in Manzini, Swaziland.
2010 (March-May): Lead Consultant for pedagogical training of Law Development
Centre (LDC) Professional staff. Coordinated a team of six consultants with whom we
conducted a needs assessment, designed a training programme and training manual and
conducted a 3-day training in pedagogy for 60 LDC staff. Additionally, we conducted an
impact assessment of the training.
2010 (Jan-Nov): Curriculum Consultant for reviewing three sets of curricula for the
Law Development Centre (LDC) Uganda. Worked with a team of four consultants to

in curriculum design and worked with the trained staff to review the content, structure
and assessment strategies for the three sets of curricula.
2005: Lead facilitator for a curriculum development workshop for training managers
under the Strengthening HIV Counsellor Training Project (SCOT) of The Aids
Support Organization (TASO) Uganda. Together with a colleague, we designed a
training programme and facilitated a 5-day workshop for 15 participants.
2003: Curriculum development expert for the Media Syllabus Development Panel that
reviewed the Uganda National Diploma in Journalism curriculum, supported by
Freidrich Ebert Stiftung.
2002: Lead Consultant contracted by the Islamic Medical Association of Uganda
(IMAU) to design a community educators’ curriculum and trainers’ manual for the
Prevention of Mother to Child HIV/AIDS Transmission (PMTCT) programme.

academics in Universities from Eastern Africa, Latin America and Asia at the University
of Kassel, Germany.
2004: I was awarded the prestigious University Science, Humanities and Engineering
Partnerships in Africa (USHEPiA) scholarship for PhD studies at the University of
