Today’s Matchup
“4 Downs” with the Buccaneers
1 - If Liberty wins on Saturday, Charleston South-
ern will be the first opponent the Flames have
ever defeated 20 times in football. It would also
mark the first time Liberty has ever defeated an
opponent nine straight times. CSU is Liberty’s
most common opponent in program history, as
Saturday’s tilt will be the 22nd matchup between
the Flames and Buccaneers. Charleston Southern
has won just once in 11 previous visits to Lynchburg, a 25-0 triumph on Nov. 11, 2000.
2 -
Jamey Chadwell has experienced considerable success in his first two seasons at Charleston Southern. The Buccaneers are 17-6 during
his time at CSU, after going just 8-25 in the three
previous seasons (2010-12). It is the most victories in a two-year stretch in program history.
3 - Only three opponents have scored 20 or more
points against Charleston Southern’s stingy defense in 2014. The Buccaneers lead the Big South
and rank No. 8 nationally, allowing only 17.3 ppg.
They will try to slow down a Liberty offense which
ranks No. 21 in the nation, scoring 34.9 ppg.
4 - Each of the last four meetings between Liberty and Charleston Southern has been decided by
two touchdowns or more. The Flames’ average
margin of victory during their current eight-game
winning streak against the Buccaneers is 25.6
ppg (38.8-13.1 average score).

Liberty Athletics Hall of Famer Robby Justino has
held the program record for passing yards at 9,548
since wrapping up his career in 1992. Junior Josh
Woodrum could put that mark in jeopardy during
his final two seasons with the Flames, and this
chart will track his progress.
Justino threw for 300 yards during the 11th and final game of his junior year, a 31-19 loss at Samford.
