SPRING 2014 University of Georgia Outdoor Recreation recsports.uga.edu/outdoor Instruction & Trainin GUIDING STATEMENT Semester Climbing Wall Trips The UGA Outdoor Recreation program exists to lead and facilitate opportunities for participants to be engaged in and learn within a variety of outdoor recreational activities. Our staff desire/strive to create a culture of accessibility, community, respect, and trust within these activities so that participants feel empowered and comfortable in the world of outdoor recreation and the natural environment. Challenge Course Outdoor Recreation Center (ORC) POLICIES Weekly Events Who can participate? For Athens Tech students, only those activities occurring outside of the Ramsey turnstiles are open for participation. The following lists show which activities are available by not being blacked out. If you have any questions, please contact Lance Haynie, Assistant Director for Outdoor Recreation at [email protected]. 2 recsports.uga.edu/outdoor For any activity/clinic taking place past the Ramsey turnstiles, a current Ramsey Student Center membership is required. Activities in this category will be noted with two price categories (Student/Faculty-Staff) and include SCUBA courses, Climbing Wall, Kayak clinics, and some other educational clinics. All current full-time UGA fees paid students are automatically members of the Ramsey Student Center. UGA Faculty and Staff must opt in for a Ramsey membership— please visit the cashier’s window, located in the Ramsey lobby, or call 706-542-5060 for more information. For clinics/trips taking place in the academic classrooms and/or outside of the Ramsey Student Center, no membership is required. Activities in this category will be noted with three price categories (Student/ Faculty-Staff/Non-UGA) and include backpacking, caving, hiking, paddling, and other outdoor trips. These activities are open to anyone who wishes to register. Minimum age for participation is 16 years of age. All pre-trip meetings are mandatory. How to register All registration can be completed at the Cashier’s Window located in the lobby of the Ramsey Student Center. Please bring your UGA ID card and be prepared to pay by cash, check, Bulldog Bucks, MasterCard, Visa, American Express or Discover. Registration deadlines are specified for each trip/clinic in this catalog and on our website recsports.uga.edu/ outdoor. All participants must complete a liability waiver and health history at the time of registration. To expedite registration time, these forms can be completed online and printed prior to coming to the Ramsey Student Center to pay the required fee. Challenge Course Let the UGA Challenge Course Help Your Organization We provide fun, safe programs that engage participants in activities that help them get to know the members of their group, identify essential elements of good teamwork, and learn effective ways to manage people and tasks. We offer half or full-day, low or high course, indoor or outdoor experiences. Across campus and across town programming is also available. FRIDAy Night Heights – Every other Friday (from 5 - 8 pm in Gym East) in the Spring 2014 semester, the indoor high challenge course transforms into an open access time for you to bring your dorm group, student organization, or just a group of your friends.
