Tuesday, November 13, 2012, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm in the F Building Atrium International Education Week is a joint initiative put forth by the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of State to celebrate and promote international education. The International Club at Athens Technical College would like to celebrate International Education Week by holding the 2nd Annual International Festival on November 13, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The International Club hopes that the festival will allow the ATC community the opportunity to learn something new about a different country or culture. There will be table presentations, food tastings, arts, crafts, and multicultural music. Mark your calendar for this fun event! The following groups will be at the festival: Kelly’s Jamaican Foods (Kelly’s Jamaican Foods will be providing scrumptious Jamaican samples!) Peace Corps (Volunteers travel overseas to make real differences in the lives of real people.) Migrant Education Program (The Migrant Education Program is ensures that all migrant students reach challenging academic standards and graduate with a high school diploma that prepares them for responsible citizenship, further learning, and productive employment.) Mbare: Contemporary Art from Africa (Mbare [im-bah-ree] brings African skill and creativity directly to your home.) Women to the World (Women to the World is offering African hand-made jewelry items for sale to fund humanitarian projects abroad.) A Henna Artist (Mehndi, or the art of body painting with henna, has been practiced throughout Africa, India, and the Middle East for thousands of years.) Phi Theta Kappa, Alpha Tau Zeta Chapter (PTK is an international organization that recognizes scholarship among two-year college students.) UGA Cooperative Extension Office (The UGA Cooperative Extension Office is partnering with PTK for their Honors in Action project.) Rotaract (Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club and has more than 8,400 clubs in about 170 countries and geographical areas.) International Club (The Intl Club is an ATC organization for any student who wants to learn about different countries and meet new people.) ATC Special Populations Office (Come find out about what services are provided for special populations at Athens Technical College.) SOCW 2120 Multicultural Issues Class Project (This SOCW 2120 class has developed a creative way to learn about multicultural issues in the social work field!) Story of Sadako Sasaki / Peace Crane Japanese Origami Student Booth (Do you want to learn about a Japanese folklore while making origami? This is your chance!) Uganda Traditional Clothing and Accessories Student Booth (Learn about Uganda’s fascinating culture.)
