100mm SCALE GLASS TUBE & FLOAT The Platon range of Glass Tube Flowmeters typically uses the 100mm scale length borosilicate glass tube and a float. Based on the well known variable area (VA) principle of flow measurement, these flowmeters provide clear, simple and reliable operation. FLOWMETERS Principle of Operation Fluid flowing vertically upwards through the tapered glass tube causes the float to rise to an equilibrium position. Flow rate is measured by reading the top edge of the float against the scaled tube (see diagram below). Platon Glass Tubes from RM&C are individually scaled and calibrated according to customer’s requirements. Custom scales are produced using our "Reynolds Curve" prediction software, which uses air or water calibration data corrected for the effects of temperature and pressure on the density and viscosity of the working fluid. • Instantaneous response • Simple and relaible operation • Low line pressure loss • High resolution • Custom scales available on request Specification Scale Length Overall Length Flow Tube Material Float Material Accuracy: 1 Standard Conditions Suitable Frames Installation 100mm typically 140mm Borosilicate Glass with fused ceramic scale Duraluminium or Stainless Steel for gases; Stainless Steel for liquids Air: ±1.25% FSD Gases: ±3% FSD Water: ±1.25% FSD 1.013 bar A & 20ºC (ATP)2 NG & G series & GU type Vertical with flow upward - read top of float Notes 1 FGTF 1CHD and FGTF 1BHD scales are specially calibrated for very low flow rates with an accuracy of ±2.5%FSD. 2 Atmospheric temperature and pressure is abbreviated to ATP on Platon flowmeters. Custom scales for other conditions are available. Unless requested, custom scale units will be expressed at ATP. Product Codes For standard gas or water ranges, select the required flow range from the table on page 11. To order, quote the Tube Code, with the Scale Code as a suffix. Unit scaled tubes, 1 to 10 linear units, are also available as standard. Quote the required Tube Code with the suffix A. Example: For a typical Argon flow of 3 L/min, choose the range 0.6 to 4 L/min and quote the code FGTF 2BHD-J. 26 www.platon-direct.eu Spare Glass Tube and Floats Code FGTF****-* FGTF3ASS-* (for gases) Custom scales are supplied at no extra cost Platon Glass VA Flowmeter Tubes are widely supplied for use on medical equipment such as anaesthetic trolleys. Available in keyed lengths and colour coded to avoid incorrect installation, standard tubes are calibrated for oxygen, nitrous oxide or air. • Instantaneous response • Reliable operation • High visibility scale fused into flow tube surface • Float rotation gives operator confidence of FLOWMETERS ANAESTHETIC GLASS TUBE & FLOAT correct performance • Borosilicate glass tube, anti-static coated to avoid static build up • Flow ranges from 10:1 to 150:1 available • Individual flow calibration • Standard gases - air, oxygen, nitrous oxide • Customised logo available Data Sheet DS1170 Specification Glass Tube Float Scale Tube Diameter Standard Lengths Gases Flow Ranges Accuracy Borosilicate Glass Red Duraluminium Fused ceramic black ink O/D 12mm or 15mm nominal 230/240/250/260mm (150mm to special order) Oxygen, Nitrous Oxide, Air, Helium, Carbon Dioxide, Cyclohexane 0.1 - 1.0 L/min 1.0 - 10 L/min 0.1 - 15 L/min To specification required Typical ±2% FSD, ±10% reading or ±2.5mm How to Specify • • Anaesthetic tubes are made to order Contact our Technical Sales Team specifying the gas, flow range and tube length required for a specific product and price quotation ☎ +43 1 706 43 000 email: [email protected] 27
