The Arab Studnet organization is organizing a
bowling night this Thursday at 7:00PM. Make

Celebrate the new school year‑‑Persian style! Bring your best gher, and your best dish!
There will be plenty (an obnoxious middle eastern amount) of food, friends, and fun, so
make sure to come out!

University Judiciary Committee (UJC)
The UJC is a great way to take an active role in student self-governance here at UVA. Through
education and trial adjudication, the UJC seeks to maintain and promote a community
of respect, safety, and freedom. We would love for you to join us in that mission by becoming an
Educator, Counselor, or Investigator. If you're a first year student, you should also consider joining
the First Year Judiciary Committee, a unique opportunity to impact your community as an incoming
student.
- Attendance at one of these sessions is mandatory if you are interested in joining: September 10th
at 8PM (Newcomb Kaleidoscope Room); September 11th at 7PM (Ern
Commons); September 12th at 7PM (O'Hill Forum)

Honor Committee Recruitment
- The Honor Committee is hosting Information Sessions for all students interested in getting involved
as an Honor Support Officer. Info sessions will be held this week on
Tuesday (9/10), Wednesday (9/11), and Thursday (9/12). After the sessions have been held, the
informational slide show presentation, as well as all try-out materials will be posted to the Honor
website for anyone who is unable to make the sessions.
- The Honor Committee will be hosting information sessions for all students who are interested in
becoming Honor Support Officers. Information Sessions will be held at the following dates, times, and
locations:Tuesday, September 10(Newcomb Hall Kaleidoscope Room, 7-8 p.m; Observatory Hill
Dining Hall, Forum, 8-9 p.m.); Wednesday September 11 (Ern Commons, 8-9 p.m); Thursday
September 12 (Newcomb Hall Room 480, 7-8 p.m; Observatory Hill Dining Hall, Forum, 8-9 p.m)

- Opportunities sent out via this listserv are designed to attract students from diverse backgrounds,
bilingual students, cultural studies majors and those with an interest in social justice into fields or
organizations where they are underrepresented or are needed to serve a particular community.
- Updates include diversity-related career events around Grounds, as well as, internships,
leadership programs, andscholarships sponsored by employers.

"Profile" (3) Select "Edit" under the "Academic" section of your profile (4) Scroll down to the bottom of
the page to "Subscribe to the Diversity Digest" (5) Make changes if needed and select "Save
Changes"
Dean Groves broke the world record for "Most High-Fives by an Individual in One Hour" last week.
APPLY TO BE AN ARTS MENTOR!
Arts Mentors work with under-resourced elementary and middle school kids from the local area, developing
relationships during monthly fine and performing arts events. NO ARTS EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! Lead
by UVA faculty and local teachers, mentors and mentees will attend performances and exhibits, make music
and art, share meals, and learn more about the local community. The program partners with the
Charlottesville City Schools and the City of Promise, an effort to build a cradle-to-college and career pathway
for kids in the Westhaven, Starr Hill and 10th & Page neighborhoods.
