students by advocating, collaborating, consulting and teaming with parents, community members and other educators.
The school counseling program will assist students in becoming college and career ready and will motivate students to
become productive and responsible individuals that will thrive in the 21st century.
Shady Grove Middle School counselors belong to the Shady Grove Middle student services team along with other
helping professionals such as the school nurse, pupil personnel worker, school psychologist, and administrators.
The mission of the Shady Grove Middle School Counseling Department is to support academic achievement, college and
career readiness, and personal growth for all students.
Counseling Department Services:
Middle school is a time of exploration, change and growth for students. Counselors are here to help students and their
families during this important stage of development. Counselors promote and enhance the academic, personal, social,
health and career development of all students and guide students and their families in making informed educational
decisions. School counselors at the middle school level support students as they transition from elementary school to
middle school and from middle school to high school.
