Environmental Science
- Students research the health effects and environmental impacts of an atmospheric pollutant. And they
research strategies to lessen the negative impacts of the given pollutant. This project culminates in the
students creating an informational pollutant pamphlet.
- The students collect recyclables throughout the school weekly and write reflections of their experience. The entire
school participates in this effort as all classes put out their recycling containers for easy access as the students sweep the
school
- Environmental Science students will be participating in an outdoor nature based field trip to Harper’s Ferry sponsored by
the Alice Ferguson Foundation. Their programs are designed to promote an understanding and stewardship of the natural
resources in the Potomac River Watershed and the legacy of farming in Southern Maryland. Students will gather stream
samples, analyze the quality and compare their data to the water quality index. http://fergusonfoundation.org/
