We’ve made it past our first full month of school.
Ourclasshascoveredalotofmaterialsinceschoolbegan.InLanguageArts,weread
classicssuchas“LittleBoyBlue”,“JackandJill”,“LittleMissMuffet”,“HumptyDumpty”,and
“Diddle,Diddle,Dumpling.”Webeganreadingthewords“I”,“am”,“a”,“the”,and“little.”
Throughouttheschoolyear,wewillcontinuetoreviewouralphabetletters,aswellasthe
HighFrequencyWords(HFW),whichwillappearontests.InSocialStudiesclass,we
discussedwhatneedsandwantsare.Wealsotalkedaboutourstate!Welearnedthat
“Texas”means“friend,”andwelearnedourstatebird(Mockingbird),tree(Pecan),Olower
(Bluebonnet),andothertrademarksofTexas(Cowboys!)
Please read with your children at least 20 minutes every day.Recipesarean
excellentchoicetoreadthismonth,becausewereviewedtheconceptofcapacityinScience
classandgreaterthan/lessthaninMathclass.Tounderstandcapacity,weweighedsandin
