Mill Creek Towne Kindergarten News It is important that you check your child’s green home folder, complete any information, and repack it in his/her backpack. Please remember to return the homework journal on Thursdays. Please remember to check your child’s lunch account regularly and make sure that there is enough money in their lunch account. Reading for Literary Experience The County Reading Test In reading and language arts the children will: -relate ideas, events, and experiences sequentially. -retell stories accurately and with expressions. -read aloud with fluency, accuracy, and expression. -write independently. -identify the beginning, middle, and end of the story including the problem and solution. -recall important information from nonfiction texts. The county reading test will begin on May 5-May 27th. It is very important that your child gets enough sleep the night before. Your child will be reading word wall words, blending sounds, and reading a leveled unseen book. Students will use a variety of strategies to solve story problems. Students are expected to be able to write their numbers correctly and rote count to 100. Students should be able to count forward from any number. We will still work on counting and cardinality. Page 2 Mill Creek Towne Kindergarten News Upcoming Events A Big THANK YOU to all of the parents that have went on our field trip to the zoo. Our museum field trip is on May 27th. Please make sure that you sign and pay for the field trip. Also, sign up to be a chaperone for this field trip. The end of the year celebration is on June 14th at 1:30. You will want to be sure to see this wonderful performance! Field Day We will have field day on June 1st. Please be on the look-out for the information. The students will be playing games, running relays, jumping ropes etc. Students should wear comfortable running shoes and clothing. Children may bring water bottles or sport drinks. They must be labeled with their names. No cans, sodas, or glass bottles will be permitted. Please put sunscreen on your child before school.
