Student Affairs Assessment Council Minutes July 17, 2013 Attendance: Ozge Akcali, Jo Alexander, Tina Clawson, Maureen Cochran, Rick DeBellis, Kami Hammerschmith, Marigold Holmes, Jeff Kenney, Carolyn Killefer, Remi Nagata, Daniel Newhart, Juliana Recio, Michele Ribeiro, Jennica Vincent, Melissa Yamamoto Welcome! The Assessment Council welcomed the new Director for Student Affairs Research, Evaluation, & Planning, Daniel Newhart. Everyone introduced themselves and shared how long they have been on the Assessment Council and why they are there. Reporting Check-in Departmental Highlights for Larry’s annual report to the Provost is due in Compliance Assist on August 1st. Please disregard the hand-out that was distributed at the meeting. o Requirements: Submit 3-5 concise bullet points per department o Note: the categories used last year are now asked for in the departmental Annual Report to Larry Assessment Reports are due September 15th or January 15th, depending on the department’s assessment cycle. Annual Departmental Report to Larry is due on October 1. o Requirements: see description from Larry at the end of the minutes 2013-14 Plans Maureen summarized the retreat conversation about plans for 2013-14. Discussion about prioritization and how we might accomplish some of the ideas followed. This information will be used to plan the schedule for Assessment Council meetings for the year; the schedule will be shared with the Assessment Council for approval when it’s developed. Next Meeting: August 21, 2013 9:00 am-10:30 am MU Council Room 1 Student Affairs Annual Reports and Highlights Your report should provide concise information on: 2012-13 PROGRAMMATIC ACHIEVEMENTS 1. Brief list of key initiatives undertaken and noteworthy outcomes achieved in the following areas: a. Student engagement and success b. Research and its impact c. Outreach and engagement, including international-level activities d. Community and diversity enhancement initiatives e. Other appropriate initiatives 2. Brief assessment of the efforts in areas in (1): what worked; areas that need improvement; major barriers 3. Brief summary of major faculty and student awards 4. Brief summary of key initiatives to leverage E&G and other base resources and to improve administrative efficiencies Please put all possible data in Compliance Assist.
