Be sure your webpages are up to date, as this is where the accreditation team gathers much of their
information. They should be reflective of what you do and be accessible.
They typically look at areas that were identified as a recommendation in the previous visit, however, we
received no recommendations last time, only commendations.
Commendations and recommendations from the recent site visit for the Academic Division can be
found at the end of the minutes.
They will likely want to look at Assessment Plans and Reports in Compliance Assist so next year will be
an important year for us to make sure we know what we’re doing. This is common, particularly since we
received commendations last time (not common for Student Affairs Divisions), they are curious to see
what we are doing.
They’re really looking at whether or not we fulfill the University’s mission.
This effort will likely be led by Bill Bogley, Director for Academic Programs, Assessment &
Accreditation.
Assessment Reporting
The Academic Affairs Division has been working to create a template with which folks in their Division will
report their assessment work. Rebecca has been asked if Student Affairs would be interested in merging our
formats, she indicated that this is not be something that we are currently interested in being that she will be
retiring and we have a model that has been working for us for years. Jusy FYI, this may come up in the future
and the decision will be up to the Assessment Council.
NASPA Assessment & Persistence
Several people have offered ideas for proposals for the NASPA Assessment & Persistence conference, taking
place in Denver, CO from June 27-29. This conference presents an opportunity for folks to hear what others
are doing and what National leaders in the field are talking about. Larry has funded individuals to attend this
conference in the past, especially if they are presenting. The proposals that are moving forward are:
1
1. Curriculum R Us: this will be a collaborative presentation which will emphasize Student Affair’s
contribution to the Bacc Core and Learning Goals for Graduates. The organization of this proposal is
Tina Clawson, please contact her with any comments, questions, or if you’re interested in working with
this group.
2. Creating a Culture of Inquiry: this presentation will showcase the work of Strategic Planning Initiative 6
& offer the audience an opportunity to explore how those concepts might apply at their institution.
Maureen Cochran is working with the Initiative 6 team to create this proposal.
3. Poster session on the Facebook assessment that Kayleen is working on.
4. Poster session about Adventures in Leadership – Rec Sports could reuse the excellent poster that they
received an award for at the Faculty Assessment Academy.
In addition to the above ideas, we’re all welcome & encouraged to offer more ideas or to create a proposal of
your own. The deadline for proposals is March 3rd.
Meeting with Larry
We will be meeting with Larry on March 1 at 2pm in Kerr 630 (President’s Conference Room) to discuss the
