Student Affairs Assessment Council Minutes March 13, 2013 Attendance: Rebecca Sanderson, Maureen Cochran, Remi Nagata, Kayleen Salchenberg, Rick Stoddart, Jo Alexander, Melissa Yamamoto, Jodi Nelson, Cynthia Stickle, Daniel Cardenas, Gus Bedwell, Rick DeBellis, Kami Hammerschmith, Pat Ketcham, Carolyn Killefer, Linda, Reid, Ann Robinson Annual Retreat We need to start planning our annual retreat; the Assessment Council decided to hold the retreat on Wednesday, June 19th. We meet for the entire day, off campus to discuss plans for next year and to provide a time for education and/or group collaboration around an effort, decided upon by the Assessment Council. In the past, the retreat time has been utilized to work on various projects, by having consultants work with our group, information sharing, discussing what’s next in Higher Education, etc. The Council discussed the need for us to support & guide the new Director in the fall; this is a huge leadership challenge for the Assessment Council. A potential topic for discussion at the retreat will be how we intend to orient the new Director, what topics of discussion we should focus on for the first few Assessment Council meetings, sharing history and a “task list.” All of this, with the understanding that we need to be flexible in helping this individual grow and learn; the task list would be like a set of recommendations. Individuals who expressed interest in forming a planning sub-committee for the retreat include: Daniel Cardenas, Kayleen Salchenberg, Rick DeBellis, Pat Ketcham, and Maureen Cochran. If anyone else is interested, please get in touch with Maureen. Please let Maureen know if you have any dietary restrictions as we will be planning a meal for the day. These are the restrictions we know of so far: We’ll need some vegetarian options; I’ll follow up when planning the menu to see who prefers a vegetarian option. One person in the group can’t have pineapple, guava or mango. Cake recommendations: no spice cake Reporting The remainder of the meeting was spent learning about Reporting Assessment Results. The power point for this discussion are included in the e-mail as an attachment and all of the information included in the presentation will be posted online along with these minutes. Next Meeting: April 3, 2013 Learning meeting: Hands-on with Excel Autzen Classroom (computer lab), 2nd floor Library 9-10:30am
