ACTION REQUIRED: None Vice President’s Remarks DISCUSSION: Mr. Sweeney will provide updates on public affairs and engagement efforts, annual giving, philanthropic cash flow, and Campaign achievement, including future support, and he will report on strategies for the last phase of the Campaign. Philanthropic cash flow measures actual gifts received by the University during a specific fiscal year. It includes cash or cash equivalents received for philanthropic purposes; it does not include pledges or future support (bequest expectancies, annuities, etc.). Through September 30, 2010, cash flow stood at $37.45 million. This reflects a decrease of 3% from the same period in FY-10 and a decrease of 1% from FY-09. Through September 30, 2010, the Campaign stood at $2.215 billion, including $243.5 million in future support. This reflects almost 74% in Campaign achievement in 84% of Campaign time elapsed. Vital to the University’s campaign efforts is the ongoing plan to introduce President Sullivan to alumni, prospects, and donors using various approaches, including one-on-one meetings and alumni engagement and media events. Mr. Sweeney will report on significant activity in these areas. 3 NAMINGS REPORT EXTERNAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA NOVEMBER 15, 2010 Namings Report The following Namings do not require Board action; they are enumerated below as a matter of record.
