Medical Center Operating Board Quality Subcommittee Minutes of September 3, 2015 Meeting 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Members present: Constance Kincheloe, Chair; Andrew Hodson, M.B., Ch.B, Vice Chair; Thomas Daniel, M.D., Kathryn Hamilton, Todd Hochrein, William Kanto, Jr., M.D., Stephen Long, M.D., E. Williams Pelton, II, M.D., Thomas Reynolds, M.D., Pamela Sutton-Wallace, Scott Syverud, M.D. Others present: Chris Ghammaghami, M.D., Lorna Facteau, DNSc, RN, Lynne Fleming, Tracey Hoke, M.D., Fred Jung, RN, Ph.D., Maria Jones, Michael Marquardt, Eric Swensen, Jeff Young, M.D. Guests present: Leslie Blackhall, M.D., Ken Brayman, M.D., Jeffrey Eavey, Mary Faith Marshall, Dan McCarter, M.D., , Michael McDaniel, Robert Teaster The Subcommittee convened in open session. Dr. Hoke commented that the MCOB Quality Subcommittee can make direct recommendations to the MCOB and to the Medical Center’s Quality and Patient Care Committee. Ms. Sutton-Wallace stated that the Rector has recommended that Board meetings involve more discussion and fewer power point presentations. Dr. Kanto asked that meeting materials be sent out earlier to permit review by the Subcommittee before the meeting. Dr. Pelton asked that summaries of articles be prepared. Dr. Long offered a motion that the MCOB Quality Subcommittee convene in closed meeting to discuss matters exempted from open meeting requirements by Virginia Code § 2.2-3711(A)(1), (7), (15) and (22) and further privileged by Virginia Code § 8.01581.17. The committee voted to convene in closed meeting. Dr. Kanto moved to certify the closed meeting and the Subcommittee approved that motion. Denise Barnes provided updates on regulatory and accreditation surveys and site visits. She stated that all hospital and home care programs are fully accredited. The meeting was adjourned at 1 p.m.
