Reading
Writing
Math
In reading, students will be
able to analyze the cause and
effect relationships between
informational topics such as
European exploration and
health issues. Students will
also analyze character
relationships, the impact of
settings, themes, and plot
development within myths.
In writing, students will be
able to state and support their
opinions using factual
information. Students will
practice forming paragraphs
of similar ideas, adding
details to their writing, and
editing their peers’ work.
Students will also begin
researching topics and
collecting and organizing
facts related to a topic.
In math, students will be able
to calculate elapsed time
using mental math and place
value. Students will also be
able to identify a number’s
factors and multiples to
problem solve. Students will
be practicing using math
discourse to explain how
factors and multiples are used
to solve problems.
Social Studies
Science
Dates:
Students will learn about
different European explorers
and their goals and
motivations for exploring
new lands. Students will also
be able to describe how
nutrients and vitamins affect
the human body. They will
use resources to summarize
dietary guidelines and how
they compare to our food
intake.
Students will be able to
compare their work with their
group ecosystems to that of
the Chesapeake Bay. They
will present what they have
learned about ecosystems and
the impact humans have on
the environment. Students
will also begin comparing
and collecting data on
seasonal weather conditions.
