Reading
Writing
Math
In reading, students will be
reading fictional stories,
including myths and fantasies,
to analyze points of view,
compare themes, and
synthesize information to
summarize parts of texts with
key details. Students will be
working on using background
knowledge and textual support
to make inferences about
characters and plot.
In writing, students will
complete their newsletters by
organizing related facts and
writing to inform. Next,
students will be writing
opinion pieces in which they
will evaluate media messages
that are used to advertise
products to kids. Students will
be able to use details to
support their opinions.
In math, students will be
working with fractions. They
will be able to use a number
line to label and compare
fractions. They will also be
decomposing fractions into
equal parts to add and subtract
them.
Social Studies
Science
Dates:
February 9- Class Picture Day
In science, students will be
exploring the three states of
matter: solids, liquids, and
gases. They will be
experimenting with and
comparing the three states.
Students will also discuss how
to observe and record seasonal
weather changes.
In social studies, students will
be learning about the early
American settlements. They
will be able to analyze the
conflict created by the
different cultures and people
as they established
communities in new found
lands.
